At any given time, there are about half a dozen silk shirts hanging in my wardrobe. Mostly in various shades of white or cream.
Easy maintenance – despite what the label says, they go in the washing machine in a net bag. It’s important to take them out the second the wash is finished so they don’t sit and get wrinkly. On a hanger they go, and before they dry completely, easy breezy iron.
My obsession with silk shirts has been ongoing. Ever since I tried my first one, which I found incredibly comfortable.
Life tends to be unkind to satin cream silk, so One has to replenish them often. Although I look for quality, I don’t buy expensive brands and usually wear them with jeans to tone the formality down a little.
Easy steps to impeccable dressing with cream silk shirts
#1 Iron when still slightly damp. Inside out.
#2 Avoid eating anything tomato-ish, or remotely messy. Obvious really, but it took me a while to master this essential point.
#3 Our loving pets and cream silk shirts don’t always make happy companions. Down lady Beatrice! Down and put those claws away…NOW
#4 Easy on the make up front. Heavy foundations can look tacky and leave marks. Use solid, light powders and allow to set, before buttoning or unbuttoning the shirt.
#5 Accessorising? Keep it simple. Let the satin silk shirt do the talking.
#6 Where to wear it? Anywhere! I wear mine for work with a grey jacket on top, but love them for going out for drinks too. -for stress free evenings, I avoid wearing them for dinner.
